Young Ladies Organization

Every year, we partner with a local school, whose student body is predominantly economically disadvantaged, to provide opportunities for 4th and 5th-grade girls to see their inner beauty.

Some of our past activities include:

  • Purchasing snacks for their monthly character-building meetings
  • Hosting a dinner etiquette lesson and book signing with author Karen Lee of iGrowGirl.
  • Treating the young ladies to a luncheon at J. Alexander’s, where they practiced what they learned in their dinner etiquette lessons.

“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.”

Christmas Gifts for Migrants

We also provide gifts to child migrants the week of Christmas. Last Christmas, we gave away over 50 Christmas toys and Christian-themed coloring books.

It is a great experience to see the children’s faces light up and to see the thankfulness of the parents during what is often a very stressful time for them. During the winter, we provide blankets to the adults and jackets to the children.

Backpack & School Supplies Giveaway

“$110 per student!” That is the estimated cost to purchase school supplies recommended by a local elementary school. Those costs can quickly add up for families with multiple school-age children. That is especially true for the families at Adam’s Hill Elementary. According to 2021-2022 demographic data gathered by the Texas Tribune, 79.7% of the Adam’s Hill student body are at-risk students, and 86.7% are economically disadvantaged.

Oftentimes, parents cannot afford to get all the school supplies requested, or they get the wrong supplies. So, educators use their paychecks to get the supplies students need. Driven by Grace’s membership includes current and retired educators. So, we understand the financial strain the beginning of the school year can place on those who live and work in low-income communities.

Nevertheless, shopping for school supplies is an exciting event for elementary school students. We want to maintain that excitement while providing school supplies free of charge. So, we are giving 25 elementary students the opportunity to “shop” for their free school supplies at Adam’s Hill Elementary and then place them in a free backpack of their choice.

“Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order to provide for urgent needs and not live unproductive lives.”
